We’ve been hearing a lot about NIS2 recently. New rules, new obligations and, above all, lots of questions about exactly what organisations are now required to do.

The new Cyber Security Act is now in force. For organisations covered by the Act, this means that cyber security is becoming an even more integral part of day-to-day operations. It’s not just the IT department that’s affected; the board and management also bear responsibility.

We do a lot to secure our data, but do we see enough?

Most organisations have now built up a substantial layer of security. But that doesn’t automatically mean you can see what’s happening to your data.

Who has access to which data? Are those access rights still necessary? Which files are being opened, modified or copied? And can you spot it when a user’s behaviour suddenly deviates significantly from the norm?

That is precisely where a major challenge lies. After all, a valid account can simply be used. And what happens to the data afterwards is at least as important as the fact that someone has successfully logged in.
