You can patch a server. You can reinstall a laptop. Shutting down a production line just to perform a security update? That’s a different story. That’s why monitoring is so important in Operational Technology (OT).

Many security solutions are good at detecting known threats. But in OT, the question is often much simpler: “Is this normal?” To answer that, you first need to know what normal looks like. Which PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) communicates with which SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) server? Which HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces) communicate with which controllers? Which protocols are being used? How often does communication take place? Which systems should never be communicating with each other? And perhaps most importantly: What changes in that pattern?

A sudden new connection can be far more interesting than a firewall alert showing an unknown IP address. NIS2 is not about buying one specific security solution. It is about managing cybersecurity risks and being able to detect and respond to incidents. To do that, you need to know what is actually happening inside your environment. Especially in OT.

Because when a system starts behaving unexpectedly, you don’t want to discover it only after a production line has stopped. You want to detect that abnormal behaviour as early as possible. That is exactly where Fryqua makes a difference: continuous technical monitoring of your infrastructure, looking not only for known threats, but also for deviations in behaviour and communication.

Because you can only manage a risk if you can see it.
